Tea drinking customs: Naxi people salt tea and "Dragon Tiger Fight"

There are more than 200,000 Naxi people, mainly living in Yunnan and Sichuan. The Naxi people living in the alpine valley area, because the living area is more than two thousand meters above sea level, the climate is dry, the staple food is mixed grains, and the vegetables are lacking. Tea has become an indispensable item for them.
 
(1) Salt tea
Brewing salt tea is a more common method of tea drinking in the Naxi people. The method is to first put a special small crockery with a capacity of about 200 ml to 400 ml on a fire pit, then put it into a small piece of tea cake into the crockery and roast it, then pour the boiling water into the crockery. The water in the crockery will immediately boil, then add a piece of salt, and stir with chopsticks, pour the tea into the tea cup, usually only pour half of the tea, then add boiling water to the tea cup, and then tea is ready to drink.
 



(2) Dragon Tiger Fight
“Dragon Tiger Fight” is the medicinal tea they use to treat colds. The method of drinking is very interesting. The tea is baked in a small clay pot, and after the tea is browned, pour boiling water into the clay pot. At the same time, pour half a glass of Chinese white wine into another teacup, and then pour the boiled tea into a cup containing white wine. At this time, the cup will make a pleasant sound, and the Naxi people regard this as a sign of good fortune. The louder the sound, the more happy the person present will be, and the drink will be ready after the sound. According to the locals, drinking a cup of Dragon Tiger Fight, sweating all over the body, after a good sleep, the cold would be cure.
