Tea is native to China. In 1753, the plant taxonomist Carolus Linnaeus named the tea tree Thea sinensis, which was recognized by the world more than two hundred years ago. However, the origin of tea trees is still one of the controversial issues in academia.

Disputes of origin
Although some people thought that tea trees were originally produced in China, this view has been divided since the British R. Bruce discovered wild tea trees in Sadiya, India, in 1824. There have been four arguments in the past two hundred years.

1 Originated in China, said D. Ganive in France in 1813, in 1892, J.M.Walsh in the Tea its history and mystery, 1893, Russian. Bretschneider and in recent years, the Japanese Tea Tree Origin Research Association, Shimura Joe, Hashimoto, Matsushita and Daisuke Otsuka all claim that China is the origin of tea trees.

2 Originated in India, in 1838, R.Bruace reported that wild tea trees were found in 108 places in India, so it was declared that India is the origin of tea trees. In 1877, British S. Baildon, in the Tea in Assam. In 1903, the British botanist J.H.Blake was in the Tea Hints for Retailers. In 1912, the British E.A.Brown was in the Tea . they all believed that the tea tree was originally produced in India, because there was no report of wild big tea trees in China at that time.

3 Originating in Southeast Asia, because the natural conditions in the eastern part of Myanmar, northern Thailand, Vietnam, Yunnan, China and Assam in India are very suitable for the growth and reproduction of tea trees, the origin of tea trees will naturally form. This idea is represented by W.H.Ukers, author of All About Tea. In addition, in 1958, T.Eden's Tea in the United Kingdom advocated the upper reaches of the Irrawaddy River at the junction of China, India and Myanmar.

4 Binary, this view is based on Indonesian C.Stuart, which believes that large leaf tea is native to the southeastern part of the Tibetan Plateau, including China Sichuan, Yunnan and Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, India and other places; Small leaf tea is shrub-type tea tree widely cultivated in the east and southeast of China.
